The aim of the project is to strengthen the potential of libraries as community hubs for lifelong learning, and of librarians as facilitators of digital education. The ever-accelerating pace of new technological development and its impact on every aspect of personal, social and professional life increases the risk of digital and social exclusion for ever-larger groups of residents. Artificial intelligence (AI) serves as an example: as information professionals, librarians can play a key role in teaching critical thinking and countering the disinformation generated by AI. They can also teach residents how to use the benefits of technology, including AI tools, in an informed, sensible and ethical manner, so as to derive the greatest possible benefit from them.
The project is being implemented by a partnership comprising: the Information Society Development Foundation (ISDF, Poland – leader), Fundatia pentru Educatie Digitala (EOS, Romania), Consorzio Sistema Bibliotecario Nord-Ovest (CSBNO, Italy), Dot Beyond (DoB, Italy) and Public Libraries 2030 (PL 2030, Belgium).
The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme (Partnerships for Cooperation, KA2 Adult Education).
